Experimenting with paint

The vast majority of Polly Dunbar's preliminary sketches for My Dad's a Birdman were done in pencil. This splash of paint is one of the few that appears in her sketchbook and suggests an illustrator eager to move onto the colour artwork.

It is notable that Dunbar is never concerned about keeping her sketchbook neat and controlled, there are multiple sketches on each page, many remaining unfinished.
